WBB Still Hanging out with Paul

Title: WBB Still Hanging out with Paul
Location: Wycliffe College Chapel
Description:

“The word is near you,
on your lips and in your heart.”

That’s just one of the passages that Paul cites in Romans 10.

In what is something of a hermeneutical tour de force, the apostle waltz’s through Deuteronomy, Isaiah and the psalms.

And the point is that the word is near.
So near you can taste it.
So near you can feel it.
The word is as near as the very breath your breathe.

Not a bad theme for epiphany.
Not a bad set of images to play with to celebrate the coming of the Light of the World.

The word is near you,
on your lips and in your heart.

That’s why we gather at 7.22 on Tuesday mornings.
That’s why we come to sing and pray,
to allow the word to dwell in us richly,
to eat and drink the body and blood of the one who is the Word.

Wine Before Breakfast.
What else would you expect from a glutton and a drunkard?

We begin the semester this Tuesday (January 5) at 7.22am.
The bandhood of all believers will do some Leonard Cohen and some Blind Willie Johnston.
Lydell is baking the bread.
Andrew Federle is serving the bread and wine.
And I’ll be preaching.

Does the word feel far away?
Does the word choke on your lips?

We know how that feels.
But we’re still hungry.
Come and eat.
